What You Seek, You’ll Find

When you shift your focus, you have the power to transform your life.

Have you ever noticed how whatever you’re looking for in life tends to show up? It’s something I’ve been reflecting on a lot lately. If you go through the day expecting to encounter chaos, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll see it everywhere. Likewise, if you look for conflict, it will inevitably appear.

But here’s the good news: the flip side is equally true. If you’re intentional about seeking out kindness, you’ll start to notice kind people all around you. Focus on opportunities, and suddenly, they’ll seem to pop up in the most unexpected places.

This isn’t about turning a blind eye to the world’s challenges—far from it. Life is undeniably complex, and there’s no shortage of things vying for our attention, whether it’s global events, personal struggles, or just the day-to-day grind. But here’s the thing: we don’t always have control over what happens to us, but we do have a say in what we focus on.

Choosing where to place your attention is a surprisingly powerful act. It’s a way of reclaiming a bit of autonomy in a world that often feels unpredictable. When you shift your focus, you’re not ignoring reality; instead, you’re choosing to see a broader picture, one where both challenges and possibilities coexist.

What happens when you change what you’re looking for?

Imagine starting each day with the intention to notice small acts of kindness. Maybe it’s a stranger holding the door open for you, a friend checking in just because, or even the barista remembering your coffee order. By intentionally seeking out these moments, you’re training your mind to recognize the good that already exists in your life.

On the flip side, if you wake up bracing yourself for all the ways the world might go wrong, you’ll likely notice every irritation, every rude comment, every missed opportunity. It’s not that the world changes overnight, but rather, what you pay attention to shapes your experience of it.

This month, I want to invite you to take a moment each day to tune into what’s good in your life. What brings you joy, even in small ways? Maybe it’s the warmth of your morning coffee, a favorite song, or a sunset that takes your breath away.

By making a habit of noticing what’s within your control and focusing on what brings you happiness, you’re giving yourself the gift of perspective. You’re reminding yourself that even in difficult times, there’s still beauty to be found.

So, as you move through the rest of this month, I challenge you to be curious about where you’re placing your energy. Are you seeking out conflict and frustration, or are you looking for moments of sweetness and joy? You might be surprised by just how much you can shift your experience by simply changing what you choose to focus on.

Life will always be full of complexities, challenges, and uncertainties. But the way we experience it is deeply influenced by where we direct our attention. By choosing to focus on what’s good, what’s kind, and what’s possible, we can create a little more lightness in our lives.

So, what will you look for today? And more importantly, what will you find?
